Safety

Alfa MiTo is designed and developed to achieve the highest possible scores in passive and active safety tests. It’s one of the safest cars on the road, providing driver and passengers with a high level of protection. In recognition of its safety credentials, the Alfa MiTo has already collected a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, 7 airbags, double pre-tensioners on the front seatbelts, SBR (Seat Belt Reminder) technology. During emergency braking, the Alfa MiTo automatically operates its hazard lights to alert other road users.

Alfa MiTo safety features, Electronic Q2 Reproduces the action of a self-locking differential, ABS Antilock Braking System, EBD Electronic Brake force Distributor between front and rear wheels, VDC Electronic Vehicle Dynamic Control for enhanced stability, ASR Anti Slip Regulation system provides traction control by adjusting the brakes and ECU, HBA Hydraulic Brake Assistance for emergency braking, Hill Holder System to aid hill starts, MSR Motor Speed Regulator: controls engine braking when the accelerator pedal is released, CBC Cornering Brake Control to optimize braking performance on bends, DST Dynamic Steering Torque, assists the electric power steering In VDC strategies: A slight steering wheel pulse prompts the driver to make up for over steering.

Control

The Mito suspension system gives maximum safety plus maximum driving satisfaction. The new generation suspension system with coil over springs, combined with a McPherson configuration at the front and a torsion beam with semi-independent wheels at the back.

Electronic Q2 System improves the transfer of drive torque to the wheels and, in particular, guarantees excellent cornering behavior, thus making the car safer and more entertaining during a sporty drive or when grip is poor.

Active electronic steering system, that makes corrections automatically and also controls over-steer on surfaces with low grip.

Dynamic Steering Torque (DST) improves both driving safety and handling performance. Under all driving conditions, the electronic steering system suggests the correct maneuvers to be carried out to the driver to allow outstanding road holding performances, while instilling a great sense of security. This is achieved through continuous interaction between the electric power steering (which generates torque at the steering wheel) and electronic control of dynamics (VDC). In detail, DST automatically makes corrections, helps to maintain vehicle control and ensures that the VDC activates unobtrusively.
